Partners in Health and Wholeness: Experience NC 2018
2018 EXPERIENCE NC IN THE NC 100-MILE CHALLENGE by Partners in Health and Wholeness
Not sure what to do with your youth and children for the summer! Want to spend more time outdoors? Not a gym person but want to be more physically active? Just love spending time with family and friends? Want to experience more of NC? Want to be inspired by God’s creation?
Start a walking/hiking prayer group, have sessions on faith and health/faith and food outside, include one outdoor field trip in your summer program every week, have a women’s group challenge, a men’s group challenge. However you do it, join the PHW staff in completing the NC 100-mile challenge. It doesn't matter if you run, walk, bike, paddle, swim, ride, or roll, or where you go to do it.
Every congregation with a minimum of 10 people who complete 100 miles will be eligible to receive a $1000 grant to be used for their health and wellness ministry (congregation will need to complete a collaborative application at any time during the year to receive the grant).
Partners in Health and Wholeness (PHW), an initiative of the North Carolina Council of Churches, is funded by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation and The Duke Endowment. The mission of PHW is three-pronged
1. To develop worship aids and other resources that draw the connection between mind, body and spirit.
2. To build key partnerships between congregations and existing health programs throughout the state.
3. To facilitate congregations to serve as health promotion centers in the community – serving healthier church meals, encouraging physical activity, addressing mental health concerns, and reducing the impact of smoking on congregants and their neighbors.
